Nagaon, Sept. 9: Waimijing A. entered the semi-finals of the Nindu Langthasa memorial inter-club football tournament, organised by the Dima Hasao Sports Association, by defeating Dibarai Athletic Club 4-0 in the second quarter-final match at NL Daologupu Sports complex at Haflong today. Waimijing A led Dibarai 2-0 till the end of the first half. Waimijing striker Bonid Bathari’s free kick in the 2nd minute was foiled after it touched the goal post. In the fifth minute, Bathari made best use of the ball received from midfielder Rakhil Kemprai to score the first goal of the match. Bathari scored the fourth goal in the 72nd minute. Midfielder Kemprai’s beautiful shot from the D box in the 30th minute brought home the second goal for Waimijing. Right winger Nonjoy Langthasa netted the third goal in the 62nd minute. Dibarai players missed three golden opportunities to score, in the 25th and 29th minutes of the first half and the third in the 77th minute. Guidai Club defeated Dimalik Razee 8-0 in the first quarter-finals on Wednesday. More than 1,000 soccer lovers gathered at the stadium to enjoy the first quarter- final. Altogether 18 teams from different parts of the hill districtare participating in the tournament. The final match will be held on September 15. Mineret Club will meet Sanmudhan Club in the third quarter-finals tomorrow. |
